Unity and Epic make historic collaboration: the Uniity game will land on Fort Night.

The two giants of the game engine, Unity and Epic Game, announced a breakthrough agreement that the future game of Unity will be released directly to Fortress Night, creating more opportunities and value for players and developers.

In addition, Unity announced that it would add support to its fictional engines in its cross-platform online store. This will provide more options for the development of the Fantasy Engines to help them manage from digital catalogues, payment providers to PC, mobile and web-end shops. The developer will be able to manage pricing, promotion and online using an imaginary engine, which will be on line early next year. On the occasion of the recent Unite annual Uniity Development Conference, the directors of both companies, Matt Brownberg, President and Chief Executive Officer of Unity, and Tim Sweeney, founder and Chief Executive Officer of Epic, were co-opted and announced that the cooperation would be officially landed next year. Matt Bronberg said, “This will create more opportunities for global game developers” and stressed that “the choice and open system will bring growth to every player in the game ecology”.

Tim Sweeney explained the strategic significance of this cooperation: “Just as in the early stages of the Internet, we are convinced that there is a need for synergy among enterprises to build an interactive and equitable open universe.” He added: “By working with Unity, we will help developers to build great games that reach a wider audience and ultimately succeed.” During the presentation, Unity also demonstrated the upgrading of several of its game development products: the Unity Core Standards System, the product validation process, Unity Studio, and the Unity AI Gateway, which will be launched in 2026 — The tool will be “Safe Official Access to Third Party AI Intelligence and Unity”. At the same time, its advertising engine, Unity Victor, has been enhanced. Matt Bronberg concluded: “We are committed to serving as a bridge between the creativity of the developers and the enthusiasm of the players, and to taking ownership of the path of success by giving the developers a real choice so that they can achieve all the ideas seamlessly in the ecosystem of Unity.”

This collaboration was an important step in Epic’s long-standing transformation of Fortress Night into an open universe, a large 3D social space with many experiences, where users can participate with friends. Over the years, Epic has been promoting this vision and, by strengthening the experience produced by the creators, allowing users to browse through the Fortress Night hall as if they were browsing through YouTube. Users can even view the experience on the web page and buy new Fort Night costumes in the browser. At present, Fort Night is a closed ecosystem, which means that creators can only create games for the platform using Epic tools, and cannot easily transpose them to other platforms for use, or introduce the experience of other engine production into Fort Night. Even in 2023, however, Tim Sweeney told The Verge that he had full confidence in the future of the interactive engine and that it was essential for his vision. Epic has had some success in expanding Fort Night from an escape game to a broad ecosystem like Roblox. By the end of last year, 70,000 creators had published nearly 200,000 “islands”, the name of the experience in Fort Night. However, Unity Editor was designed to help developers build one-time games and operate across multiple platforms, with more than 1.2 million active users per month. Even if only a small proportion of these developers had introduced their game into Fort Night, it would have brought great growth to the platform.
